Gavin Glover è sempre stato ispirato dalle narrazioni più cupe e assurde di Kafka, Lynch e Beckett, così ha co-fondato la compagnia teatrale Faulty Optic con la collega burattinaia Liz Walker per verificare se anche i burattini potessero abitare questi mondi misteriosi e metaforici. E ci sono riusciti. La compagnia ha poi presentato uno stile di teatro di burattini deliziosamente oscuro e unico per un pubblico adulto, girando il mondo per oltre 20 anni.
Durante il workshop faremo
Ispirandoci ad acclamati registi e animatori di film d’autore come Jan Svankmejer, i fratelli Quay, Maya Deren e David Lynch, creeremo il nostro mini-film d’autore low-tech, perfetto per il grande schermo, il piccolo schermo o qualsiasi altro formato!
Puntando piccole telecamere su oggetti minuscoli, inizieremo a scoprire dettagli e movimenti nascosti che normalmente si perdono nel mondo che ci circonda. Combinando le nostre scoperte con una semplice narrazione, potremo creare rapidamente un micro-cinema affascinante e sorprendente, senza bisogno di costose attrezzature cinematografiche o settimane di laborioso lavoro di animazione.
L’obiettivo di questo workshop molto pratico è che ogni partecipante o gruppo sviluppi, registri e monti un mini-film d’autore di 2-5 minuti, che proietteremo a un pubblico selezionato al termine del workshop, sabato 20 giugno.
Adatto a tutti gli artisti, animatori, operatori teatrali e cinematografici.
Ai partecipanti verrà chiesto di portare:
1. Smartphone e/o tablet con almeno 20 GB di memoria per registrare video a 1080p.
2. Computer portatile. Consiglio di scaricare il software gratuito DaVinci Resolve di BlackMagic (esistono alcuni strumenti di editing gratuiti per tablet o smartphone, ma un computer portatile è sempre più veloce).
3. Una selezione di oggetti e materiali da filmare.
4. Torcia, piccole luci.
5. Kit di attrezzi di base: forbici, pistola per colla a caldo, ecc.
6. Materiali artistici: colori, inchiostri, ecc.
7. Accessori opzionali da portare: videocamera, fotocamera reflex digitale, treppiede per fotocamera e clip per smartphone, lampada angolabile/luce per riprese cinematografiche, ecc

Gavin Glover has always been inspired by the darker and more Absurdist narratives of Kafka, Lynch and Beckett, so he co-founded the theatre company Faulty Optic with fellow puppeteer Liz Walker to see if puppets could also inhabit these mysterious and more metaphorical worlds. And they can.. The company went on to present a deliciously dark and unique style of puppet theatre for grown up audiences and toured all over the world for over 20 years.
During the workshop we will
With a nod to acclaimed Arthouse Movie makers and animators such as Jan Svankmejer, The Quay Brothers, Maya Deren and David Lynch we will create our own unique low-tech Mini Arthouse Movie ready for the Big Screen, Small Screen or any size of screen!
By pointing little cameras at tiny things, we start to discover hidden details and movements that are normally lost in the everyday world around us. By combining our discoveries with some simple narrative, we can quickly create a fascinating and surprising Micro Cinema without the need for expensive camera equipment or weeks of laborious animation work.
The goal for this very practical workshop is for each individual or group to develop, record and edit a 2 - 5 minute Mini ARTHOUSE Movie which we will screen to an invited audience at the end of the workshop on Saturday 20 June.
Suitable for all artists, animators, theatre and film makers.
Participants will be asked to bring
1. Smartphone and/or tablet with at least 20Gb memory to record video at 1080p.
2. Laptop. I will suggest you download the free Davinci Resolve by BlackMagic. (there are some free editing tools for tablet or phone but a laptop is always quicker)
3. Selection of objects and materials to film.
4. Torch, small lights.
5. Simple tool-kit, scissors, glue gun etc.
6. Art materials, paints, inks etc.
7. Optional extras to bring: Camcorder, DSLR, Camera tripod and smartphone clip, angle poise lamp/film light etc.
